According to the latest report from the US Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), iCloud remains the most popular subscription service among US Apple users. Data shows that about 64% of American Apple users have chosen paid iCloud storage services, which is significantly higher than other Apple services such as Apple Music, Apple TV+ and AppleCare.
Among Apple’s service product lines, Apple Music and Apple TV+ rank second with penetration rates of 42% and 32%, respectively, while AppleCare’s penetration rate is 17%. While these services contribute significantly to Apple’s service revenue, they face stiff competition in their respective markets. In contrast, iCloud provides users with unique conveniences due to its deep integration with Apple devices, which makes it occupy a unique position in the cloud storage market.
The popularity of iCloud highlights the importance of cloud storage services to Apple users and Apple’s advantage in providing a seamless integrated experience. In addition, the popularity of iCloud also reflects users’ needs for data security and convenient access.
Paid iCloud subscriptions start at $0.99 per month for 50GB of storage, $2.99 per month for 200GB, and $9.99 per month for 2TB. These standalone iCloud storage plans can also be bundled with other Apple services through Apple One, which offers three tiers: the Individual plan at $16.95 per month includes 50GB of iCloud storage, Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple Arcade; the Family plan at $22.95 per month includes 200GB of iCloud storage and extends those services to up to six family members; and the Premier plan at $32.95 per month includes 2TB of iCloud storage and adds Apple News+ and Apple Fitness+.
